Zimbabwean Student Dies of Mystery Illness in Poland, Family Appeals for Help

In a sorrowful turn of events, Bathabile Meshia Sibanda, a 22-year-old student from Zimbabwe, has died in Poland after a brief illness.

The news has left her mother, Khawulani Sibanda, devastated and she is now reaching out to the public for support in bringing her late daughter’s body back to Zimbabwe.

Bathabile was pursuing a Long Cycle Master’s Studies in Physiotherapy at Vincent Pol University in Lublin, with the programme set to conclude on March 31, 2029. Sadly, her time at the university was cut short during her first semester when she fell ill.

Bathabile Sibanda’s Cause of Death Revealed

Bathabile Sibanda passed away at Lublin Public Hospital as Zimbabweans celebrated Independence Day.

According to Bathabile’s family, the postmortem examination revealed that her untimely demise was attributed to an undisclosed form of stomach cancer. Although she was young, Bathabile’s acquaintances remember her as a quiet and introverted person who remained largely unknown to many.

Renowned journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda took to his official Facebook page to share the heartbreaking situation faced by Bathabile’s family.

Family Appeals for Help as Zimbabwean Student Dies in Poland

It has been revealed that they had exhausted their savings to finance her university education and are now grappling with financial constraints to repatriate her remains. In a heartfelt gesture, Bathabile’s fellow students at VPU are diligently coordinating efforts to gather the necessary documentation and assist her grieving family in Zimbabwe.

Uniting for a Cause: Raising Funds for Repatriation

In light of these circumstances, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to facilitate the collection of funds, which will be utilised to bring Bathabile Sibanda’s body back home, from Poland to Zimbabwe.
