Ferrari Teamed Up With Ray-Ban and Meta on a Pair of Smart Glasses

Ray-Ban is upping its game for Miami Race Week.

In honor of the upcoming F1 competition, the iconic sunglasses brand has released its very first limited-edition pair of Meta smart glasses, Hypebeast reported on Monday. Fittingly, the shades are a collab with Scuderia Ferrari, with just 1,000 pairs for sale.

Available in the aptly named “Shiny Garage Blue,” the specs feature Ferrari’s signature shield logo on the temple. Otherwise, they come with all of the high-tech features one would expect from Meta smart glasses: An ultra-wide 12 MP camera is accompanied by a five-mic system, allowing for high-quality videos that you can share directly to Facebook and Instagram. Open-ear speakers let you seamlessly listen to music, calls, or your surroundings. And when on a video call, you can share the view you’re seeing through the lenses with the other participants.

Perhaps most appealing is the new Meta AI with Vision function, which is being rolled out with Ray-Ban’s spring/summer 2024 line. By just saying “Hey Meta,” you get access to a whole host of impressive functionalities. The glasses can help you write a caption for an image taken with the built-in camera, Hypebeast noted, or translate unfamiliar text on signs. Meta AI can even tell you about objects you aren’t used to, like local fruits when you’re traveling internationally.

Unlike some of the more recent virtual-reality creations, Ray-Ban’s smart glasses seem relatively easy to use. Voice commands let you call, message, and capture content all without looking at your phone. The same features can be activated with a single tap via the shades’ touchpad and capture button, if that’s more your speed. And the sleek charging case gives you four hours of juice, with eight additional charges available when you’re on the go.

The latest Ferrari limited-edition specs continue the marque’s longstanding relationship with Ray-Ban. The two teamed up back in 2018 on a line of 1970s-inspired glasses. And in 2022, the Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz customized their own pairs. Now the Prancing Horse is leaping into the future with the Meta smart glasses, which are available online for $499.

If you’re able to get your hands on a pair before this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, you may just be one of the more stylish Ferrari fans to hit the racetrack.
