Zimbabwean academic and former MDC politician Professor Elliot Pfebve is running to be a councillor in the upcoming local government elections in the United Kingdom (UK).

Chance To Make History In The Upcoming UK Local Government Elections

If he wins the seat, he will be the first African to represent Birchills Leamore ward in Walsall Council chamber, West Midlands. Pfebve is running under the Labour Party in the polls set for 2 May 2024. The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in England elected him.

Pfebve has been on the campaign trail, rallying for support as the elections date looms.

Pfebve initially ran in the 2019 local government polls and lost the ward seat. The former Zimbabwe opposition politician is vying again to join the list of Zimbos who have held political positions in the UK. In 2022, Corby Town Council elected Tafadzwa Chikoto as Mayor, becoming the first black person in that position.
