Zimbabwe will host India for a five-match T20I series in July, ZC announced on Tuesday. The series will be held from July 6 to 14 in Harare, just a week after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA, as the final takes place in Bridgetown on June 29.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting India for a T20I series in July in what will be our biggest international attraction at home this year,” ZC chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani said. “The significance and magnitude of this tour cannot be over-emphasised, especially as it is coming at a time we are working round the clock to re-establish ourselves as a force to reckon with at the highest level of the game.”
Four out of the five T20Is will be day games starting at 1pm local time, with only the third T20I to begin at 6pm.
However, Zimbabwe missed out on qualification for the T20 World Cup this year although as many as 20 teams participate for the first time in the tournament. Before that, they had also failed to make it to the ODI World Cup in India last year despite hosting the Qualifiers, where they had lost to Scotland in the Super Six.
