ZDDT – Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust

loquat donation

An anonymous individual, an elderly lady, has recently made a generous donation to the Zimbabwe Development Democracy Trust (ZDDT) market gardens.

The mysterious benefactor, aware of ZDDT’s poverty alleviation measures, has gifted ten Guavadilla vines and five loquat trees to the organisation, with many more available if required.

This will aid the market gardens in expanding the number of fruit species and the range of value-addition products produced by the members as they set about adding value to the crops that they grow.

The Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) and Guavadilla (Psidium guavadilla) trees are both fruit-bearing and native to Asia and South America, respectively.

Both species have long been recognised for their numerous health benefits and have been cultivated for centuries for their fruit and other uses.

The relationship between the anonymous donor and the ZDDT is evidence of the power of collaboration and community involvement in addressing pressing social and environmental challenges.
