Yadah books another date with FC Platinum

Story by Lawrence Trusida

Former ZIFA Technical Director Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe is delighted to be back in the topflight league after leading his new side Yadah to a one-nil victory over Cranborne Bullets in a Chibuku Super Cup preliminary round match at Baobab Stadium this Wednesday.

The victory saw the Miracle Boys booking a date with FC Platinum in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup at Mandava Stadium on Saturday.

The former Monomotapa and CAPS United coach is delighted to be back in the topflight league.

“I am very happy. It means so much to me. I have been through a lot but returning to the league means so much and I can’t even explain how happy I am and especially getting a win. This is great,” said Jongwe.

Russell Chifura scored the solitary goal that sunk Cranborne Bullets at the stroke of 90 minutes as Yadah progressed to the first round of the cup competition.

Losing coach Nesbert Saruchera took the defeat as a blessing in disguise.

He said, “With our position in the league, it was always going to be difficult to fight on two fronts yes we would have loved to win but it wasn’t to be and now we concentrate on surviving relegation.”

In the second match, Black Rhinos beat Sheasham 4-3 on penalties after the match ended nil-all in regulation time.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo Chiefs have appointed former Manica Diamonds coach Johanis Nhumwa as head coach to fill the vacant position left by Lizwe Sweswe.
