Parirenyatwa Hospital has unmasked another fake doctor as it clamps down on people targeting innocent patients at the institution.
Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals’ security measures have heightened following the latest media reports on bogus doctors at the institution. The latest conman is 24-year-old Blessing Nyanzira, who was apprehended while attempting to bypass a staff security checkpoint.
Nyanzira is in court before Harare magistrate Sharon Rakafa for impersonation.

How The Fake Doctor Was Arrested Arrest
H-Metro reported that on 25 April, the hospital’s Loss Control Supervisor, Claude Nyangani, bumped into Nyanzira during his lunchtime check. Nyanzira initially claimed to be a medical doctor. He presented two conflicting identity cards to the security personnel.
He had a scrub jacket with his name and a stethoscope, which seemed to corroborate his story. However, discrepancies in his identification raised suspicions, leading to a more thorough investigation by the Loss Control Supervisor.

The fake doctor claimed he was connected to Dr. Ndurukwa of the Zimbabwe National Army, who, upon contact, denied Nyanzira’s medical credentials. Trapped, he then said he was a student doctor from the University of Zimbabwe. The loss control officer contacted the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, who refuted these claims. Nyanzira was subsequently arrested.

This case is not isolated. In recent weeks, Parirenyatwa Hospital has seen similar cases of impersonation and theft. Douglas Mutoredzanwa was caught reading an X-ray film upside down. He had lied to a real doctor that he was a medical doctor. His mistake raised suspicion, leading to his arrest.
