The YMCA of Corry has two new employees: Alexis Bevevino, engagement and development coordinator, and Skyler Kressler, personal trainer and wellness coach.
Bevevino started in her new role on April 9. She is in charge of marketing, running social media, websites and overseeing advertisements for events and fundraisers.
She’s diving in head first, with summer programs just around the corner and waiting to be promoted.
“It’s important to get all of that out there,” Bevevino said.
She will also be charged with coming up with some new fundraising ides and a bit of grant writing.
“I’ve been a marketing consultant for many years, so that’s my strong suit,” Bevevino said.
Hailing from Warren County where she grew up, Bevevino lived in Corry for a short time at one point.
“I like Corry,” she said. “The people are just so nice.”
Bevevino hold’s a bachelor’s degree in marketing from West Virginia University, and has worked in sales and marketing ever since.
Primarily, she has worked in banking, serving as branch manager for two PNC locations in Youngsville, Pa. She also worked for Erie News Now and Lilly Broadcasting.
“I have background working with a whole array of businesses,” Bevevino said.
She also started getting involved with nonprofits like the Second Harvest Food Bank, fairs and the Community Foundation of Warren, finding she has a passion for that kind of work.
“I work with tons of them [nonprofits],” she said, also citing the Sisters of St. Joseph, Erie Philharmonic, the YMCA of Warren and Lutheran Jamestown.
But now, she’s looking forward to honing in her skills to benefit a single outfit.
“I’m excited about getting to really focus on the Y,” Bevevino said. “Being able to focus my knowledge on one organization.”
Still, she believes the connections she’s made will help her in this new role, and will be glad to start making new ones, as well. She said she hopes to be part of launching new and exciting programs while helping the Y stand out among Corry-area organizations.
“It’s going to be a new challenge in many ways,” Bevevino said. “There’s so much to work toward, and it’s exciting.”
In particular, the child care element has a special place in her heart.
“I’m excited about the kids,” she said, noting she wants to see them grow up, remain involved and give back one day.
Her main goal, she said, is to keep the Y visible.
“Letting the community know what’s going on here as the Y grows,” Bevevino said.
Kressler started his YMCA journey on March 15.
“The exciting thing about my new role at the YMCA of Corry is my drive and passion to inspire and guide clients toward lasting wellness. My main goal here is to help people reach their health and fitness goals.”
His job there is about more than his own ambitions, however. He wants to be a team player.
“Ultimately, the goal is to contribute to the overall success and growth of the company while aligning with its values and objectives,” Kressler said.
A Corry graduate, Kressler served in the U.S. Army for four years, reaching the rank of sergeant and being deployed once overseas. He still serves as a reservist.
