Innovation’s Derrick Twum pours in 37 more points in victory

Even Mother Nature couldn’t cool off Derrick Twum.

With snow swirling outside, the Innovation Academy boys basketball star put on another show. Twum led all scorers with 37 points to fuel the Tyngsboro school to a 64-45 victory at Mystic Valley on Tuesday.

Twum wasn’t just a scorer during Innovation’s fifth straight victory. He added nine rebounds and three blocks.

Bryce Kankam was also a standout with 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals for the Hawks (5-3, 3-1 league). Ayden Rogers produced nine points, four rebounds and two assists, while Sam Horace chipped in five points, eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.

Innovation pulled away after only leading 13-12 after one quarter and 30-24 at halftime. The Hawks dominated in the third quarter.

Boys hockey

Littleton 3 Easthampton 2: Liam Glew scored in overtime to lift Littleton to a thrilling victory following passes by Zach Lizotte and Ethan Dangel at the Groton School.

Conor Glew finished with a goal and assist, while Ethan King also scored. Lizotte dished out a pair of assists. Andrew Archer set up one goal. Easthampton had a slim 30-26 shots advantage, but Charles Becker made 28 saves to register the win.

College basketball

DuCharme stars: The combination of outstanding shooting from outside the arc and a strong defensive effort enabled the Bentley University Falcons to win their sixth straight, 66-47 over Southern Connecticut State, in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball action at the Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn.

Junior forward Kylie DuCharme (Wilmington/Wilmington High) led the Falcon offense with 17 points.
