Ice causes Spectrum outages across region | Local

MEDFORD, Ore. — Spectrum said its outages along the West Coast have been resolved. Spectrum told NewsWatch 12 there were multiple fiber breaks.

These breaks occurred due to weight of the ice, causing lines to hang and be caught by passing vehicles or collapsing power company utility poles.

The cause of delays in restored service were partly due to protocol that requires power companies to respond first, according to Spectrum. Once the power companies deem the area safe, Spectrum said it is then able to work on restoring its services.
