It’s back to work for Illinois lawmakers this week. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mark the return to Springfield for State Senators and State Representatives. State Representative Amy Elik (R-Alton) has been working on legislation she hopes will get some traction this spring.
Elik tells The Big Z some of those bills have been drafted, some are being amended, and others still have been filed but may still be amended.
One in particular she is working on would address sexual abuse by teachers, staff, or volunteers.
In the coming weeks, Elik says she is very interested to hear what the Governor lays out in his budget proposal. The Budget Address is scheduled for February 21.
