Business owner outraged after RV encampment cleanup takes away parking

An RV encampment cleanup in December has led to new problems for business owners in Hollywood Hills.

The original cleanup took place on Dec. 6 and involved about 50 motorhomes along Forest Lawn Drive.

The City of Los Angeles has since painted the curbs red where the RVs used to park, preventing any civilian vehicles from parking there.

A local business owner told KTLA that the shortage of parking is having a negative impact on her business and a nearby film school and that many drivers are forced to pay expensive daily rates.

“If I would have known that’s how the parking was going to be when I first opened my business, I would have not opened here,” said Nancy Sexton, owner of The Muse Rooms, a coworking office space. “My clients come first, and I have a price point that’s not reflective of $12 per day for parking.”

Sexton also said several potential clients have decided not to go with her due to the lack of parking.

According to city officials, the Los Angeles Fire Department requested the area be a no-parking zone due to a high fire risk.

KTLA’s Phil Ige contributed to this report.
