Air Zimbabwe Expands Fleet to Boost Economy and Tourism | eTN

While Air Zimbabwe had initiated a turnaround plan in previous years, progress has been incremental.

The national airline Air Zimbabwe has recently augmented its fleet with the acquisition of two new aircraft, marking a significant step towards expanding its flight operations.

The state-owned carrier, Air Zimbabwe, has welcomed a 50-seater Embraer ERJ 145 regional jet along with a refurbished Boeing 737 aircraft.

The introduction of these aircraft facilitates the enhancement of both domestic and regional flight services.

The Embraer ERJ 145 jet is set to operate scheduled flights between the capital city of Harare and the renowned tourist destination of Victoria Falls. This service not only connects two major hubs within the country but also serves as a vital link for international travelers eager to experience the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls.

Meanwhile, the refurbished Boeing 737, which has been revamped since its last operation in 2016, is slated to ply regional routes. Specifically, it will facilitate flights between Harare and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, thus bolstering regional connectivity and trade links.

This strategic expansion aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader economic objectives, aiming to alleviate the impacts of sanctions and other economic challenges. By investing in its aviation sector, the country seeks to harness the potential of tourism and trade, leveraging Air Zimbabwe as a key player in driving economic growth.

While Air Zimbabwe had initiated a turnaround plan in previous years, progress has been incremental. The success of this plan hinges on factors such as service reliability and customer satisfaction.

With the addition of the new aircraft, Air Zimbabwe aims to strengthen its route network, improve reliability, and enhance the frequency of flights, thereby positioning itself for sustainable growth and resilience in the aviation industry.
